History, history! We fools, what do we know or care.
Believe me sometime its so very handy to know 'when' 'who' ran 'what' command on your server. if 'when' is important, I must have timestamp on my bash History. This is how it cane be done.
export HISTTIMEFORMAT="%h/%d - %H:%M:%S "
History is written by the Victors! Yes!! When I have to work on a new server from operations point of view I do like to refer history - believe me it helps.
Some of my Favorite key on shell is :
Ctrl + r
Ctrl + p
history -c (Dangerous! It will wipe off entire history) , useful sometime for some victors ^_^ though..!!
